Plastic Eliminators go to L.A

This past weekend, the Plastic Eliminators project attended the first “Plastics Are Forever” International Youth Summit in Long Beach, California. The event was sponsored by the Algalita Marine Foundation, a nonprofit group devoted to environmental research and activism, focusing specifically on researching and publicizing the 5 oceanic plastic gyres. The main purpose of the event was to let youth doing environmental stewardship work meet others doing similar work. It was held at a hotel in the area, and activities included speeches by Cpt. Charles Moore and several other well-known activists, a tour of the local aquarium, and, of all things, a talent show. The event was quite educational and enjoyable, and the project members acquired the contact information of several other attendees.
